Portrait Timing Tips for Winter, Summer, Fall, and Spring Weddings

Winter

Winter weddings in Indiana are gorgeous! All of the beautiful white snow is just stunning! Winter weddings will take some careful planning since the sunset time is so early. In the winter the sun sets around 4pm and this means that we will need to have all of your portraits (bride & groom, wedding party, and family portraits) done before sunset! If you are planning on having an evening wedding then you will need to do a first look.

Spring

Spring weddings are wonderful because the flowers are in bloom and the temperatures are warm but not too hot. You also won't have to worry too much about the sun setting on you too early. One thing to keep in mind is that spring is prime allergy season! You may want to have some allergy medicine on hand, just in case!

Summer

We never have a problem with loosing daylight for summer weddings! The sun doesn't set until 9pm. It can be pretty hot, however, so you will want to plan a little buffer time after your portraits so you can freshen up and drink some water! Since the sun will more than likely be setting during your reception, you will want to consider adding sunset portraits to your timeline! These portraits will just be of the two of you and will happen during a break in the reception. They only take a few minutes and no one will know you are gone and it's a great chance to take a little break on your own. Sunset light is GORGEOUS and you will certainly want these sunset portraits!

Fall

Like spring weddings, fall weddings are great because the temperature is cooler, but not too cold. There are also so many beautiful colors! You will want to keep a lookout for when the sunset time is since the sun starts setting earlier and earlier as fall moves on.
