Nidia and Jamal tied the knot on Saturday! You will probably remember them from their engagement session last year AND you may remember Nidia from Jordan and David's wedding a couple years ago, she was one of Jordan's bridesmaids! I LOVE when former bridesmaids (and groomsmen) end up booking me for their own wedding!
Nidia and Jamal were living in the same apartment building while they were both graduate students in Chicago. They didn't really know each other at that time except by passing. They ended up meeting through mutual friends a few years later and hit it off! Jamal proposed while they were making dinner in their apartment.
Their wedding was held at the A-Frame at Ross Camp in West Lafayette, Indiana. They originally planned to have their ceremony outside in front of a pine tree and pond and then have their reception inside the A-Frame. However, mother nature had another plan. It rained all morning and throughout the afternoon. Right when their ceremony was supposed to start the rain stopped! They debated still having the ceremony outside but with the wet ground and chairs they thought moving it inside would still be best.
It worked out beautifully! The A-Frame is such a cute venue and Nidia and Jamal had it decorated perfectly that it was gorgeous! Since the rain stopped, we were still able to do their portraits outside, which was great.
Nidia and Jamal made their wedding completely their own. Every part of the wedding was unique! They read excerpts from the children's book "I Like You" for their vows, instead of having a first kiss they high-fived (although they did do a kiss after that!), Nidia changed into overalls for their first dance and it was completely choreographed with all of the guests joining in at the end, instead of doing a normal cake cutting they sang Happy Birthday since 3 people were celebrating birthdays around their wedding, AND Nidia's Dad drove her up in a classic car. He brought her home from the hospital in a classic car and it was just fitting!
Enjoy a few of my favorite images below!
Nidia & Jamal: It was so great being able to document your big day! I LOVE that you made your wedding your own and I know that you are going to have a lifetime of love and happiness!
