Kat and Cordell are married! You may remember these two from their Delphi engagement session. (You can view that HERE.) Kat and Cordell have quite the history. They first met back in high school after Kat's family moved to Indiana from California. They became friends and then life took them in different directions after school. Kat ended up moving to another state for her job and her and Cordell lost touch. About three years ago, Kat moved back to Indiana to be with her father. She ended up re-connecting with Cordell on Facebook and they fell right back into their friendship like they had never been apart. After constantly hanging out and having dinners that would last several hours, their friends and family started asking them if they were dating. They kept saying they were just friends but then they finally realized what everyone else already knew, that they were perfect for each other. Kat and Cordell had so many things in common that it just made sense for them to start dating and get married. Cordell proposed to Kat on June 30th under a blanket of fireworks while they were celebrating the 4th of July with their friends and family. Kat of course said yes!
Kat and Cordell really made their wedding their own in so many ways! Since their wedding was held the Saturday before Halloween they wanted to incorporate Halloween into their theme. They had a traditional ceremony and all of their guests arrived in wedding attire. However, after the ceremony, they had all of their guests change into Halloween costumes and Kat and Cordell changed as well! Their wedding was not only filled with personal touches and with their closest friends and family but it was special for another reason as well. Kat's mother passed away five years ago and they chose her 5 year anniversary as their wedding day to celebrate and honor her mother.
We also need to talk about Kat's black dress! Kat purchased this dress 30 years ago! She was shopping with a friend who was getting married and saw this dress in the shop. She fell in love. She saw it in white, which wasn't really her style, but the shop attendant told her it came in a couple other colors including black. Kat was ecstatic! She tried it on and knew it was THE DRESS. She bought it and packed it away. Kat never really saw herself ever getting married but deep down she thought that maybe she'd find a special someone and get to wear the dress. She found Cordell and got to wear it! I asked her what she would be doing with the dress after the wedding. Since she waited 30 years to wear it I knew she needed to do something special. She said she will wear it every single Halloween and be a witch and get a new hat each year to go with it!
