Katie and Collin are married!!!!! You may remember these two from their Las Vegas engagement session earlier this year! (You can view that HERE.) Katie and Collin first met back in March of 2017 while they were both working at the Indianapolis Zoo. They met, hit it off, and have been together ever since! It was truly love at first sight! (Katie even jokes that she picked out their wedding hashtag, # FromBrownToGray, that day!) Fast forward to November 2018 and Collin proposed to Katie while they were both at Apple Works. They were on a bridge overlooking a creek and Collin got down on one knee and asked Katie to marry him. She said yes, of course!
Katie and Collin held their wedding at the gorgeous venue Stone Creek Lodge in Crawfordsville, Indiana. (If you are a Netflix binger, you may remember seeing Stone Creek Lodge on episode 6 of the show "Say I Do"!) Stone Creek Lodge is one of my favorite venues and is really so beautiful! Katie and Collin wanted a fall wedding and wanted their wedding to reflect all that fall has to offer but they didn't want a typical barn venue. Stone Creek Lodge was the perfect location for them that offered the fall and rustic feel in a modern way! Their wedding was filled with dark orange and navy accents and lots of fall details. They even lucked out with the trees on their wedding day because there were so many gorgeous fall colored trees present around the venue! These two have been planning their wedding for two years and with COVID happening, they had to adjust their plans a bit but they were still able to be surrounded by their friends and family and it was the perfect day!
I can't not talk about Katie's dress for a minute! It's gorgeous and you know what? She originally only tried the dress on as a joke! Her mom told her that dresses look different on the hanger than on a person and to keep an open mind. While they were at the dress shop, they grabbed dresses that Katie saw and loved and a few dresses that were just for fun and ones that they thought were a bit funny or not right. Katie's wedding dresses was one of those funny dresses! Now, Katie's wedding dress looks beautiful on the hanger, but Katie did not ever think that she would want feathers on her wedding gown. However, once she put it on, tears welled up in her eyes and she knew that it was the one! I love that story! If you're looking for a wedding outfit, remember to try ones that you may not think you'd like too, you may be surprised!
Another super special thing about Katie and Collin's wedding is all the ways that they incorporated Katie's dad throughout the wedding day. Katie's father, sadly, passed away earlier this year but Katie and Collin made sure that he was there in spirit by incorporating lots of details throughout the day to remember him. Katie had a heart sewn in her dress from her dad's favorite blue Hawaiian shirt. It represented her "something blue" and also was a way for him to walk her down the aisle. She had a photo of her and her dad added to her bouquet and a hair pin and she wore a necklace with his fingerprint. They draped her dad's coat over a ceremony chair with his photo and saved him a reception seat as well. Even though he wasn't able to be there physically, he was certainly there in spirit and shining down on his daughter!
Without further ado, below are a few of my favorite images from Katie and Collin's wedding day!
